How to Clean Your Horse Shears
Просмотров 962 месяца назад
Cleaning your horse's clippers will prevent rust, keep your blades sharper, and prevent weird fungal and bacterial skin infections from moving from horse to horse. Horse shears are easy, as the blades are separate and easy to put back together. How to Put Weight On a Skinny Horse
Просмотров 892 месяца назад
If your horse's body condition score (BCS) says they are underweight or skinny, you and your vet can do many things. Start with ruling out PPID (Cushing's disease), internal parasites, and other medical reasons for weight loss. Look at herd dynamics, and make changes there. You can also add calories with feeds, use slow feeders, and add supplements. Read more here: proequinegrooms.com/putting-w...

Grazing muzzle fit - make adjustments for a perfect fit!
Most people have alcohol dehydrogenase. Horses aren't unique for that. If I had a liver the size of a horse's I'd probably be able to drink a shit ton of beer too.
So important to discuss this ! Thank you.
If you gave a horse more apples and carrots would he need the salt block?
Probably not, as the amount of salt they need per day isn't relative to the sugars they eat. However, if you feed too many sugars, you may end up spending more money on vet bills for an overweight horse or one that develops insulin resistance. Food for thought as they say!
I don’t own a horse, but I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to shave upwards😂😂
how do you tuck the saddle pad into the gullet?
After placing the saddle on, I just lift the pad and saddle together a few inches and then place it back down.
@@Proequinegrooms thanks!
i 100 get that, i do ride bitless (but with a noseband cuz u kinda hand to lol) but i am looking for a bridle for my friends horse and she is kinda young and needs a bridle what happened is it is just fitted correctly and loose?
If you use a noseband, you can check across the nasal bone that it's loose enough. You don't have to get rid of it all together, just be sure it gives enough room.
@ oh okay, do u have any tips to a horse who just like licks alot? is there something to fix that or just time and practice?
Can u take pictures of the r grooming kit?I feel that I have a lot of unnecessary stuff
I don't have a horse anymore, and so I don't have a box anymore. But honestly, if you like what you have and you use it, keep in in your box! There is no right way to do this!
Thank you what a great informational video and a good explanation. What about when grasses and pastures are brown in the winter but there’s no snow cover yet? Sain Foin and grass is what we have and after one of my horses put on too much weight quickly this fall, we’ve been very careful. They alternate morning and late night with grazing times as well as hey nets so we know approximately how much they are eating. But how much sugar and how much nutrients are in dormant pastures usually? They finish their night hey nets by midnight usually and then go seven or eight hours without food. I just wonder how safe night turn out would be for them as a better option when it’s only 10° and they’ve already finished their forage. I wonder how to tweak their schedule so they can have more safe turn out time. I would rather not use a grazing muzzle on all night I think
Its really hard to pinpoint how much sugar is in dormant pasture. But it's really easy to find out your horse's risk of laminitis and colic. Once you understand how "at risk" your horse is, then you can adjust accordingly. And generally speaking, cold nights and brisk mornings tend to increase sugars, and warmer afternoons lower them, but when it's cold all the time and snow is coming, who really knows. Offering hay with slow feeders is always a good idea, and may be easier for horses to eat in the cold weather anyway.
@ thanks! It’s been such a big year of learning with these guys. There’s so much more to learn, a lifetime! But I feel like we’ve come such a long way, and have happy healthy horses. And they really do love when I go out there to give them hay bags. ☺️ I think I’ll get in touch with the university extension office and get our pasture tested during the different seasons this year, just to see what the differences are. It’s such fascinating science, and there’s so much more to it than I ever realized! I adore learning about it all.
Beautiful
I love you're Gray I have one his name is Blizzard
is there risks if the horse accidentally consumes them with their hay?
I don't think so, some sketchy companies actually sell them as supplements. I would simply cover them up with a layer of shavings! You also don't need to bury spots with them, only a sprinkle or two is good.
How long should it usually take for the thrush to clear up, if taken care of it properly?
If you can't get rid of it in a few days, then call for reinforcements from your vet.
Any tips on how to keep the muzzle on my horse he always gets it off lol
Sure - I outline some ideas in this video: ruclips.net/video/Ixys364dJq4/видео.html
How do you heal a horse with this disease?
Your vet and farrier need to develop a plan that may include resection of the hoof wall, soaking in medications, packing the hoof, applying topical meds, or a combo of all of those.
Thanks.
thank you for sharing! good tip!❤
Can you explain what you mean by matching the blades to the coat?
Sure! Trimmers have tiny blades that won't go through a winter coat. Body clippers have blades that work for most winter coats, and shears have blades that go through the thickest of coats. Each type of clipper, be it shears, regular clippers, or trimmers, have blade options that let you leave different amounts of hair. For example, the #10 on body clippers leaves 1.8 mm of hair, but the #7F leaves 4mm. So pick the best clippers and blades for how thick the coat is and how much hair you want to leave on your horse.
I was a groom at pompano beach racetrack 😊😊😊😊
Great video. Would suggest changing the title to make it clear that DE does not work for deworming. Also, is silica a carcinogen for skin contact or only when inhaled (a problem for lots of particulates)?
Thanks so much for your feedback! It's only carcinogenic when inhaled (according to the several websites I looked it up)
So my baby was an easy keeper and now she not😜.i guess that happens with age
honestly, same.
What vinegar to water ratio do you use for a final rins?
I use it straight! But I don't mind the smell.
Can you please please please show how to stretch, massage, and/or exercise sore hind legs I’m not asking for all of that, just the best you think that would help with it. My poor horse is getting old and couldn’t even lift her hind legs for our farrier. I want to do my best to ease her pain without medication if possible
Those are stretches that your vet should give you. The hind legs are so complicated and interact with the spine and pelvis, so you want to be sure you are doing the right ones for your horse. Your vet can also help with meds, which are safe to help pain.
@ ok thank you so much
Question -is it possible to wash my horse during winter? Because of the draught she was able to get wash😢
Yes, you can do some hot toweling with a no-rinse shampoo! I have some demos here: ruclips.net/user/shortshQISxxTc1iM and ruclips.net/user/shortsRLn-3x_HhYQ
👍🏻👍🏻
Hi! I would like to clip a design into my horse’s hip. Can I draw it on him with chalk first? Or will the chalk gum up the clippers ? Thanks! I love your channel.
You can certainly try! I think the best way is to make a stencil from a cereal box, the cardboard is the perfect thickness. I suspect chalk would gum up the blades. Using a marker gives you an outline without the dust, so that's an option, too.
@ thanks. 😊
Smegma you say !?!😱🥳😸
I got no problem with the content I just wanna know why RUclips thinks I have a Horse

Hello there.. Question? Can stall dry be used in horse trailers?
I think so!
Hello.. Appreciate if you can check your email. I sent you an email regarding sharpening clipper blades for equines. Thank you!
Oh, I would like to see you try and clean MY horse! LOL. White blanket Appaloosa that lays in his urine at night, his whole side is stained yellow and he smells. I came here looking for answers.
It's going to sound weird, but not bathing helps a lot. This allows their natural oils to build up and protect the hair.

My question is: I peeled my horses chestnuts last night and he ate them off the ground. There were some pretty big chunks, is that, like, safe for him to eat?
I guess so!
WD-40 is great for cleaning your clipper blades. Not so much for keeping them running smoothly lol.
Nice mam
This is helpful

Hi maan hours care job ha kya my name is aman
🤔
awww He's beautiful. Mwua
Awe! What a beautiful girl Winnie is! ☺️
She really is!
Do. You have any bed pellets underneath the shavings?
Not for this horse! This is sawdust, and outside where he sleeps is the thick pellets plus shavings on top.
I don't use bedding on dirt floor stalls. Is it ok to just put the zeolite on after scraping clean the wet spot and leaving it?
absolutely!
Best explanation I have found yet! 😂❤
Thank you! It can be so tricky to cram a semester's worth of info in a tiny video
@@Proequinegrooms well you certainly educated (and entertained) me
How do horses get bruises in/on their feet?
They can knock their own hooves against something, or the sole is thin and they step on something, or having a too-short trim.
Since my baby had an abscess last winter,I'm obsessed with her hooves and hoof care. Thx u for the info
Hope everything is good now!
